Casa Tomas

Casa Tomás Dirección:
Calderon de la Barca # 95 esq. López CotillaTeléfono: 01 (33) 3615.5652
This is just a nice evening all around. Housed in a typical home in Guadalajara of the 1940`s, a beautifully tailored Spanish (of the basque region) menu includes tasty rack of lamb, roasted suckling pig, fresh fish done in the oven covered in sea salt, to bring out the best flavor. Also, do not miss the roasted red piquillo pepper filled with a cod (bacalao) fish in a light red pepper sauce. Chef even bakes his bread, and offers weekly specials. Don`t expect any frills or trendy fusion fare. This cusine stays true to fresh inovative ingredients and quality produce. The service is elegant and discrete, not to mention a well thought out wine list. They have also undergone a recent addition to the expansion of the outdoor terraza, which trully provides for a memorable evening out.

I Latina

Av. Inglaterra ·3128 This is one of our favorite regular dining spots in the City (Guadalajara).
A chic locale infront of the train tracks is a trendier spot worth visiting. The Chef proposes an eclectic Italian-Asian fusion along with weekly specials. Try any of the fresh sashimi or salmon tartares. Also, try the fried mozzarella with a spicy marinara, sure to satisfy any fried foods cravings. Delish cocktails shaken up and poured tableside add to the attraction. Agave martinis and tamarind margaritas for example. You can sweet talk your way in after 8PM to the savvy host, Lino, however for a sure bet, make sure to have a reserved table. They are also now open for lunch on weekends, but live music is best enjoyed on Thursday nights. Get there early and enjoy the people watching. Don`t worry about the strange old guya t front, he`s just the security. Typical amongst well frequented spots of the nouveau riche.***

Un Roman y Dos Ladrones

Recently had a worthwhile dining experience at this new Guanatos hotspot in the Providencia neighborhood. Francisco Ladrón de Guevara, Rubén Omar Romano and Juan Pablo Ladrón de Guevara have teamed up and opened a multi-level restaurant-bar with a unique Italo-Argentinian menu. What makes this a noteworthy visit is without doubt the variety of flavors on the menu. The tuna tartare was served at perfect temp. with chucnks of ahi tuna, capers, and a soy marinade which held it all together. Quite nice. Also the grilled calamari tubes filled with asian noodles and crispy fresh vegetables in a tamarind glaze, was also worth trying. The dish was served with some sort of crisp carrot shavings. When we asked the waiter about them, he did not know what they were... This is not uncommon though in majority of restaurants in this City. Especially if they are brand new places such as this one. The waiter seemed to avoid the table the rest of the evening and we were taken care of by a new staff member. All things considered, I would recommend to anyone a stop at this venue. Nice atmosphere, Grand flavors, but waitstaff could brush up on the menu items a bit. ***
